The Skatalites is a symbolic band for ska music fans. It was band which promoted a new musical style that became recognizable throughout the world in later years, and it was followed by reggae ensembles. The group was founded in 1964, however, because of the basic composition the team played for a relatively short time. Despite this, they managed to perform with the most important figures of Jamaican culture – Bob Marley. After the break up the musicians put on a solo career, and the official reactivation of the band took place in 1983.
